The CBD Guide

CBD Basic Information

What is CBD Oil?

Cannabidiol, a.k.a. CBD, is a powerful plant extract that has been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years. CBD is one of 113 cannabinoids extracted from a hemp plant having very low levels of THC. This allows CBD to be used in our products safely and legally. Our extraction technology allows for high levels of CBD, along with it's accompanying phytocannabinoids (CBD), terpenes, and flavonoids, while eliminating unwanted THC. Naturally occurring trace amounts of THC are identified and removed from the oil, while leaving intact the broad spectrum profile of non-psychoactive phytocannabinoids and synergistic compounds such as cannabidiol (CBD), cannabigerol (CBG), cannabinol (CBN), cannabichromene (CBC), and over 40 naturally preserved terpenes.

How Does CBD Work?

Phytocannabinoids (CBD) can be used to supplement or replace chemicals inside our bodies, called endocannabinoids. When the nervous system or immune system do not work as intended, because of an endocannabinoid deficiency, CBD is used as a supplement to help with restoring the proper functionality of the central nervous system and immune system.

This is primarily due to the phytocannabinoids activating CB1 and CB2 receptors, which in turn regulate cognitive and immune functions.

The Differences Between Hemp and Marijuana

Within the cannabis plant, there are two different strains (1)marijuana and (2)hemp.

Hemp is a term used for cannabis that contains 0.3% or less THC content.

Marijuana is the term to classify varieties of cannabis that contain more than 0.3% THC. THC is the compound that can induce psychoactive or euphoric effects.

Types of CBD Oil

Full Spectrum CBD Oil - Contains all 113 cannabinoids within the marijuana plant, including THC (the only psychoactive cannabinoid). Full spectrum is easier to manufacture, because it can be emulsified, dissolved, and homogenized much more effectively - compared with an isolate. Since the isolate are difficult to dissolve in water containing media during manufacturing or consumption, they pose a risk of inconsistent delivery of active for consumers and patients alike.

Broad Spectrum CBD Oil - Contains only a few cannabinoids within the hemp or marijuana plant. More beneficial than an isolate. CBD in the presence of other plant constituents improves the dose-response in a standardized hemp extract, showing it is more potent and efficacious than pure CBD isolate. Various research groups have studied a range of physiological parameters, such as analgesic effects, and have concluded that the higher efficiency of plant extract can be explained by additive or synergistic interaction between CBD, terpenes, and the minor phytocannabinoids in the extracts. This is because other phytocannabinoids, including Tetrahydrocannabivarin, Cannabigerol, and Cannabichromene exert additional effects of therapeutic interest and the therapeutic synergy observed with plant extracts results in the requirement for a lower amount of active components.

CBD Isolate - Contains only 1 cannabinoid within the plant - CBD. CBD isolate has been used for various Investigational New Drug applications. GW Pharmaceuticals has an approval pending with Food and Drug administration for a drug with CBD as the active ingredient. Historically, the active ingredients in their purified form are not allowed in any consumer or drug product upon FDA-approval. Therefore, designing a product with purified CBD, will present a challenge for manufacturers, as it will soon be illegal to use. However, designing consumer products or supplements with full-spectrum hemp oil with up to 80% CBD and no THC provides a solution to those who would want a viable and legal supply of CBD raw material in the form of a botanical extract.

Broad Spectrum 0.0%THC - That's us!! We utilize the entire marijuana plant, and remove ALL traces of THC. This means that we are utilizing all of the cannabinoids within the marijuana plant, except for THC.

How is our Broad Spectrum 0.0% Hemp Oil Extracted? How is the THC Removed?

The hemp plant material is dried and milled into a powdered form. This allows for a higher surface area which in turn results in an efficient extraction in a shorter time. The extraction is carried out either in supercritical CO2 or food grade ethanol. The solvent allows for a preferential extraction of cannabinoids, waxes, terpenes and some impurities, while discouraging the exchange of impurities such as plant carbohydrate and other impurities.

The liquid extract or slurry containing plant material is processed through a custom designed filtration process in which almost all of the undissolved solids are retained while solid-free clean extract is able to permit through the filter membrane. The solvent from the clean hemp extract is recovered using distillation. This converts liquid extract into an oil form. This oil is further treated to preferentially remove waxes. It is then processed through a unique chromatography media, which removes THC. The final oil has total phytocannabinoids of 75-85% in range with total terpenes between 1-4%.

Do We Practice Organic Farming?

We believe in a cultivation approach that is compliant with organic farming practices as defined by the standards captured in the Organic Food Production Act, USDA Organic Regulations, and the National Organic Program.

Why is Our THC-Free Oil So High in CBD Content?

Our unique plant genetics contain 15-18% CBD and less than 0.3% THC, qualifying it as industrial hemp. Our supplier's unique proprietary process removes the unwanted materials, waxes, chlorophyll, and pigments that are non-medicinal in nature from the cannabinoids, lipids, vitamins, and terpenes in the hemp extract. The refining and THC-removal process is very selective. The removing of only the components that do not any nutritional or medicinal value means that the resulting oil becomes very enriched - 70-85% CBD by content, and less is needed for a finished product formulation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does CBD Oil Get You High?

No! The only psychoactive cannabinoid is Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). We remove all traces, therefore there is NO psychoactive effect.

Will CBD Make Me Drowsy?

Extremely unlikely. With 0% THC, the CBD itself will not make you drowsy, unless taken in excess amounts.

Can I Give CBD To My Pet?

Absolutely! Our pet's bodies respond to CBD the same way as humans. Main uses are for anxiety/stress and pain/inflammation management.

What Makes Fleur Different From Other CBD Brands?

Genetics - Our unique genetics are rich in CBD, minor cannabinoids, AND abundant with 30+ terpenes

Vertical Integration - Our supplier grows, extracts, manufactures, and performs R&D - all in GMP compliant facilities.

ZERO-THC - Our proprietary manufacturing uses chromatography to remove THC, while retaining all other synergistic molecules within the hemp plant. The removal of THC, combined with preservation of diverse cannabinoids, terpenes, lipids, and flavanoids, ensures that the broad spectrum nature of our oil is preserved. The broad spectrum oil is what is responsible for the entourage effect, which makes our hemp oil medicinal in nature.

Proprietary Product Technologies - Our technology is based on making the phytocannabinoid rich (PCR) hemp oil water soluble. This technology isn't like other liposome-based technology. The water soluble hemp oil is a nanoemulsion technology - very small hemp oil droplets diapered in the formula - which ensures a very high absorption efficiency in the blood upon ingestion. This nanoemulsion based CBD is 4x more bioavailable and quicker than a standard CBD oil.
